Canine Support

Canine Partners first came to my attention through the story of Endal. I read about Endal’s life with the Parton family and was touched by the story of this amazing dog and the difference he made to his owners life. Allan Parton a Gulf war veteran was injured in a car crash leaving him with memory loss and in a wheelchair. While Allan struggled to come to terms with his disability his wife began to volunteer as a puppy trainer. Allen met Endal and the partnership between the two enhanced and enabled Allen to again feel life was worth living.  I think it would be fair to say Endal not only saved a marriage but Allan’s life.

Endal was a canine partner dog and after reading his story I decided to find out more about the charity. I was really impressed by the work and training they do and I now sponsor a puppy myself (a chocolate brown Labrador called Nugget).

I persuaded the rest of the office team Canine Partners would be a fantastic charity to support this year and as we are an office full of dog lovers they agreed !!!!

Canine partner dogs make a huge difference to the quality of life for disabled people. Helping them lead more independent lives, accessing their community and helping people work, shop and socialise. All this wrapped up in a friendly, waggy tailed companion! 

Endal sadly died at the age of 12 on 13^th March 2009 in the arms of his owner Allan and surrounded by the rest of the Parton family.

We would really like the Salisbury branch to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity. We have set a target of raising £500 this will buy a puppy to train as a canine partner dog. What an achievement that would be to know we have helped a disabled person become independent.
