Acting Registered Manager

Our Client is a well-established, family-run business.  They have 5 care homes and 1 domiciliary care agency, all located in Cornwall.  They provide a variety of complex care across our Homes.  Ranging from elderly residential care to specialist Dementia care as well as care for adults living with complex mental health needs.

Our client is looking for an acting Registered Manager to run the care home for an interim period.  The home is a 15-bed home located in the centre of Newquay caring for adults, aged 18-65, living with mental health conditions.  This is not a locked unit, the residents come and go as they please.  Carers support the residents to live as independently as they can. 

You will manage a small team of carers.  You will have the support of an administrator and you will work closely with the Directors. 

  • Monday to Friday (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm)

The role

  • Responsible for the daily running of the home, with the support of the Directors  
  • Ensure the delivery of quality, person-centred care for our 15 residents 
  • Updating care plans using our electronic care planning system (Person centred software)
  • Ensuring that we meet the National Minimum Standards of care issued by the Care Quality Commission
  • Manage resident's pocket money
  • Manage resident’s medication and ensure that medication is delivered according to regulations, using our electronic MED e-care system
  • Take on a leadership role
  • Be available for meetings relevant to the home Maintain quality standards and ensure health and safety compliance
  • Liaise with, and maintain partnerships with local organisations and the community
  • Supply information, advice and support to residents and their families
  • Organise activities for residents and actively promote their independence
  • Maintain an effective system of quality assurance to ensure that the quality of care we aspire to is delivered
  • Management of 6 care staff
  • Management of recruitment process
  • Ensure that staff are up to date with their training
  • Lead staff meetings
  • Carry out supervisions and additional training where necessary

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Have previously been a Registered Manager of a care home
  • Level 5 Diploma in Health and social care management or equivalent 
  • Experience working in a residential mental health service
  • Up-to-date training
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to manage a small team
  • Able to multi-task
  • Have a valid UK driving licence and use of a vehicle
