Vicki from our Compliance team assists with Leonard Cheshire 'Can do' project

Throughout December Leonard Cheshire Disability has run annual homeless Christmas campaigns to coincide with International Day of Disability.

Through their 'Can Do' volunteering programme they worked with groups of disabled people aged 10-35 to create ‘share and care’ bags to disseminate to their local homeless shelter. Just under 500 bags were given out in total.

Vicki Hendy, Quality Assurance Advisor for Nurseplus joined their event in Portsmouth to help out -

“We spent time in the classroom at the college packing the ‘goodie bags’ with items such as scarves, gloves, thermal socks, and hygiene products.

The students designed and wrote messages of goodwill on a label for the bags before we all drove over to the shelter.

Catherine the ‘can-do’ coordinator was really knowledgeable and was more than happy to answer all my questions on the day. It was very touching to visit the shelter, having the opportunity to speak to the residents and to be involved in the worthy cause. I would not hesitate to volunteer myself again.

Special thanks to Sanjana, Matt and Joe who worked with Vicki for this amazing cause.
