So, why choose homecare services?

Many people are choosing to live independently at home thanks to the help of family and friends. Sometimes though, care needs or situations can change and that’s when private at homecare is sometimes a more suitable option to consider. Homecare services, or domiciliary care, is support provided by home care agencies to those who need extra help to stay in the homes they love, for as long as possible. Helping you work out funding for our homecare services

Understanding the cost of homecare services can be daunting, but now you know what you want and need, we can help you navigate funding by presenting you with just two simple choices.

Self-funded care at home

You will need to self-fund your homecare services if you have more than £23,500 in savings (this amount is due to change to £100,000 from October 2023).

There are benefits that can help with the cost of care such as Attendance Allowance or Personal Independence Payment.

At Nurseplus Care at home, we’ll work closely with you to compose a homecare package based on your care needs assessment and your own research. Our carer rates can vary depending on where you live and the type of care you need. Once we considered all these factors we’ll help you choose between our private home care and live-in care packages.

Financial support for care at home

Of course, for those who are eligible, there is financial support available from your local authority when it comes to paying for homecare services.

At the same time, or not long after your individual care needs assessment is carried out, you can request your local council carry out a financial assessment to find out if you or your loved ones can access government finance to support care at home costs.

Find out how means tests for help with care at home costs work.

The results of the financial assessment will mean your care costs will be:

  • Covered in full

  • Partially covered – meaning you will need to make payments to top up the rest

  • Not covered – leaving you to pay the full amount

Your personal budget will then set out your care at home costs, detailing the contributions from your local authority and you, if applicable. From here you can choose whether to let your local authority arrange homecare services on your behalf, or choose to have supporting payments made into your account and make the choice yourself.
