Flexible hours for working parents at Nurseplus - Read Amy and Claire's story

A Healthcare Assistant and Homecare Worker at Nurseplus’ Eastbourne branch have spoken about the work-life balance that the roles offer them as mums with young children.

Healthcare Assistant Amy Gillett was looking for a role that would offer her both stability and flexibility and began her new career at the beginning of 2017. Prior to working for Nurseplus, Amy had worked as a hairdresser for six years.

Homecare Worker Claire Rushton meanwhile began working for the local healthcare recruitment provider in May 2015, having previously worked as a Nursery Nurse and Pre School teacher

Amy commented: “My two-year-old daughter has just started nursery part-time and so I was very restricted with what hours I could work if I wanted to get that perfect work-life balance with my family.

“Working at Nurseplus has enabled me to choose what hours are suitable for me and continue to be at home during the hours when my child needs me most.

I enjoy interacting with elderly and vulnerable people, engaging them in meaningful conversation and knowing that I’m making their life that little bit easier and more comfortable by allowing them to stay in their own home.”

Claire added: "The flexibility that Nurseplus offers allows me quality time with my own family whilst also providing me with a positive, rewarding and continuous future in healthcare. "

Nurseplus regularly recruits for new members of staff across its UK wide branches, offering roles across different environments, including care and nursing homes, assisted living and support within the community.

Pamela Bruce, Nurseplus managing director, added: “Many of us here at Nurseplus have young families and understand only too well the difficulties that can come with balancing a family with work.

“We will always strive to accommodate the needs of working parents and offer them the chance to build a successful carer that they enjoy whilst being given the opportunity to spend precious time at home with their loved ones.”

Nurseplus offers flexible hours full or part-time to fit around everyone’s individual needs, Nurseplus also provide free training, free uniform and free DBS* (terms apply), plus a loyalty points scheme and a staff lottery.
