Sales & Marketing Director
This is a Hybrid role
This role reports directly to the CEO and owns all sales and marketing activity across Nurseplus. You will lead both a small centralised marketing team and the BD function with a strong emphasis on focus, prioritisation and commercial impact. Success in this role depends on close collaboration with Operations and other central teams to ensure growth plans are realistic, deliverable and aligned to branch capability. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who can set direction and execute.
Core accountabilities
Leadership & ownership
- Full ownership of the marketing and business development functions
- Direct line management of:
○ Central marketing team (small, specialist)
○ Two BD Directors
○ Bids & Contracts
- Clear accountability for revenue contribution, pipeline health and growth priorities
- Develop and deliver a joined-up sales and marketing strategy, aligned to CEO and board priorities
- Focus effort on the areas that matter most:
Commercial strategy
○ New business
○ Lapsed client reactivation
○ Group and multi-site opportunities
- Translate strategy into simple, practical plans for branches
- Create and lead a focused marketing team to deliver:
Marketing
○ Campaigns that directly support revenue
○ Clear, consistent messaging across sectors
○ Client and candidate communications that drive action
- Ensure marketing activity is measured on impact, not volume output
- Lead, coach and challenge the BD Directors
- Set clear expectations around:
Business development
○ Targeting
○ Messaging
○ Follow-up discipline
- Ensure BD activity is insight-led and aligned to operational capacity
- Work in close partnership with Ops leadership
- Ensure alignment between:
Operations collaboration
○ What is sold
○ What can be delivered
○ Where the business should (and shouldn’t) grow
- Act as a commercial sounding board on service design and market opportunity
- Own reporting across sales and marketing
- Provide clear insight to the CEO on:
Performance & insight
○ What’s working
○ What’s not
○ Where to focus next

You will have:
- Senior experience owning both sales and marketing ideally in a recruitment setting.
- A track record of resetting or rebuilding commercial functions
- Confidence operating in complex, multi-site businesses
- The judgement to balance growth with delivery reality
- The backbone to challenge, prioritise and make calls
Care experience is useful, not essential. Commercial credibility is essential.
